The Call for Papers for the 2023 APSSLH Conference is now open!

The APSSLH is pleased to announce that our 2023 Conference will take place from Friday December 15th to Saturday, December 16th in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. We are excited to introduce our 2023 theme, “Build a Stronger Network Among Us”, which will be reflected on the Conference’s program. Our Conference encompasses both research and practice. APSSLH members and related professionals are welcomed to submit proposals to present at the APSSLH Conference through the Call for Papers. Contribute your knowledge and expertise to our biennial event for the professions!

Session Formats:

Oral Presentation (30 minutes)

  • In-person only
  • Audiology and speech-language pathology science/research topics

The purpose of oral presentation session is to communicate scientific information or highlight clinical innovations in an efficient form. The session may have either a research or clinical focus. Research sessions present recent research findings or research in progress. Clinical sessions address the applied clinical aspects of the professions, such as the methodology of a specific diagnostic, a therapeutic strategy, or a unique service delivery model used by the clinician.

Poster Presentation (50 minutes)

  • In-person only
  • Audiology and speech-language pathology science/research topics

Poster presentations combine a short oral presentation with a visual display to facilitate the rapid communication of scientific ideas. During the presentation, viewers visually guide themselves at their own pace through the basics of the study displayed on the poster, while the presentation focuses on explanation, clarification, and discussion of key elements of the work. In-person poster presenters will be scheduled for a 50-minute session at the APSSLH Conference to answer questions and engage in discussion with the presenters and/or fellow viewers.

Symposium (1 hour)

The purpose of symposium session is for a group of researchers and/or practitioners to select a contemporary topic and learn state-of-art research or innovative clinical aspects by exchanging ideas, thoughts, or concerns between attendees and symposium presenters.

Submission Guidelines:

1. All submissions should be made through this portal only(you are required to register your account to submit your proposal).

2. Select a session format (oral presentation, poster presentation, or symposium)

3. Select a topic (speech, language, or hearing)

4. Proposal Content:

  • Style Guide:
    APSSLH adheres to the style guide of the American Psychological Association (APA) in using person-first or identity-first language.
  • Language:
    Abstracts must be written and presented in English.
  • Title:
    The title of your proposal should not exceed 15 words, using title case. Do not use all caps or unnecessary punctuation, such as quotation marks around the title of a period at the end.
  • Abstract/Summary:
    Please provide an expanded summary of your proposal, not to exceed 500 words, that the Program Committee can use in its review of your proposal. A suggested structure for the abstract could be as follows:
    1. Background: Briefly introduce the topic and context of the study or clinical innovation.
    2. Objective: Clearly state the specific research question or clinical goal.
    3. Methods: Describe the study design, methodology, and/or intervention, as appropriate.
    4. Results: Summarize the main findings or outcomes of the study or clinical innovation.
    5. Discussion: Discuss the implications of the findings or outcomes, and their relevance to the field.
  • Keywords:
    Please submit 3-5 keywords that best represent the main themes or topics covered in your proposed work. These keywords will help organizers to categorize and group similar abstracts and help attendees to more easily find sessions that are of interest to them. Examples of possible keywords might include: “speech therapy,” “audiology,” “language development,” “hearing impairment,” and “communication disorders.”

The deadline to submit proposals is Thursday, June 15th, 2023, 11:59 P.M., Vietnam.
